    Using AutoCAD hatches in Chief

    With Chief Architect not running:

1 - locate the file called acad.pat (or any other valid *.pat file). Windows XP will treat it as a hidden file, so you'll need to allow it to search for those types if you search.

2 - Copy it to your the Patterns directory for Chief. Mine is C:\Program Files\Chief Architect Inc\Chief Architect X1\Patterns

    3 - Start Chief.

4 - In any closed polyline dbx
    - select Custom for the fill pattern
    - browse to the Chief Patterns directory and select acad.pat
    - then in the drop down underneath it, you'll be able to select from all the patterns in that file.

For some reason, my AR-Sand doesn't work, but the rest do. Bummer, 'cause that's one of my favorites.

I wrote code in 1984 to make my Sinclair 100 - so I used to be a programmer! So I can say with authority how easy it is to program Chief features! ;-)

    Wendy,
Thanks for the tip! I've been getting by with the limited choices in Chief, but this helps me a lot with my details and sections.

    Tim,

Very cool - thank you. It never even occured to me that there would be many more options than those on the drop down list. Silly me!

    Tim,
Thank you for the thread and additional information. I'm new to Chief Talk and finding it addictive. What I've gained in the learning curve I'm losing in the addiction to check the latest posts.

ADDICTIVE isn't the word.... just look at the number of posts some of our gurus have made! (I can't figure out how Wendy manages to get all her kick-butt designs out and still find time to help us out here! I gues that thing about women being multi-taskers is true!)

Top 10 Reasons I post so much.

1 - This is my water cooler.
    2 - I make my cat work.
3 - I'm totally ADD and wouldn't give it up for the world.
4 - See how fast Chief is?
    5 - Sometimes I'm just stealing other people's thunder.
6 - I'm practicing to be the next Miss Manners - it pays better than architecture
7 - It keeps me out of the refrigerator when I need a break.
8 - If I don't put my own solutions here, I can't find them when I need them.
    9 - The meds aren't working,

    and finally....
10 - The slightest chance of another picture of Louis in a flowered robe...
